Kent Harrison SAR Personnel

The relatively large area combined with the variety of risks and the incident frequency presents a significant challenge for a volunteer SAR group in a small community. Maintaining a dedicated, well-trained and well-equipped team requires constant effort. Drawing from a population of less than 5,000 results in a small core group of dedicated people. This can be an advantage as the organization is well-known and well-supported.

Kent Harrison Search and Rescue is usually seeking new members on a continuous basis. This is balanced with the current status of the team and the ability to schedule basic training. In-house training is delivered by 2 qualified instructors on the Ground Search & Rescue (GSAR) course (as developed by the Justice Institute of BC). Other less formal training is given on search techniques, boating, rope rescue and swift water rescue (in addition to formal courses offered by organizations such as the Justice Institute).
